Help WAG Protect Malawi’s Wildlife — and the People Living Alongside It

Wildlife Action Group (WAG) protects some of Malawi’s most important remaining wildlife and forest habitats, including Thuma Forest Reserve and the Dedza-Salima Escarpment. Our rangers work every day to prevent poaching, protect wildlife, monitor threatened species and reduce conflict between elephants and surrounding communities.

The results are real. The elephant population in our landscape has grown from around 70 to more than 300, while WAG and its partners have helped create safer habitats and significantly reduce human-elephant conflict.

But protecting wildlife comes at a cost. Our rangers patrol vast and challenging areas, often in difficult conditions, while facing increasing threats from poaching, illegal activities and human-wildlife conflict. Communities living alongside protected areas also need support and sustainable livelihoods if conservation is to succeed long term.
