Mukutan Conservancy (Lion Landscapes team)

Across Mukutan Conservancy’s 88,000 acres, our rangers work every day to protect wildlife, safeguard critical habitats and support the communities that share this landscape.

Mukutan is currently home to around 118 rangers. Their work takes them across steep escarpments, deep gorges, thick bush and remote areas of the Conservancy. They conduct regular patrols, monitor wildlife, help prevent illegal activity, respond to emergencies and support efforts to reduce human–wildlife conflict.

Keeping a ranger team of this size in the field requires significant and continuous investment. Our rangers need reliable salaries, nutritious meals, appropriate uniforms, durable boots and the equipment necessary to patrol safely and effectively. We must also continue investing in ranger housing, training, communications systems, monitoring technology and the wider infrastructure that supports their welfare and operations.

These are not one-off needs. They are essential, everyday requirements that enable our rangers to continue protecting Mukutan’s wildlife and landscapes.
