Kibale National Park - Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2024
Kibale National Park 2024
Kibale National Park
Our Story
The Wildlife Ranger Challenge, organised by Tusk and culminating on 21st September 2024, celebrates their many roles and is raising much-needed funds to support their work.
Rangers are the backbone of all operations in Kibale National Park. There are various types of rangers including: law enforcement, tour guides, community conservation, intelligence, veterinary and research & monitoring. Whether anti-poaching, protecting local farms from elephant crop raiding, or responding to injured wildlife, all rangers work together and are fully operational.
With tourism having collapsed due to the COVID19 pandemic, UWA has been working on much reduced budgets. The funds raised by WRC previously have provided critical funds for ranger patrol food, fuel for patrol cars, motorbikes and boats, the maintenance of frontline cars, basic kit and veterinary drugs for rescues.
Your contribution will help support over 400 rangers and an estimated 40,000 livelihoods in and around Kibale National Park in Uganda.
