The Wildlife Ranger Challenge

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes, having dedicated their lives to protecting wildlife in the field every day. The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is an annual, multi-month competition organized by the conservation charity, TUSK, in which hundreds of teams of wildlife rangers from across Africa compete in physical fitness and endurance tests to raise money for their reserve's anti-poaching efforts. The Challenge is a celebration of solidarity, connection and camaraderie for the ranger profession, culminating on September 19th, 2026.

Funds raised from this page support Team Malilangwe as part of the challenge - going directly to Malilangwe's wildlife protection and anti-poaching efforts. Additionally, as part of the Wildlife Ranger Challenge, the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated to contribute a shared pool of funding which is distributed amongst all the reserves participating in the Challenge.

The Malilangwe Trust

The Malilangwe Trust was established in 1994 to develop and implement methods for the successful conservation and protection of wildlife in partnership with local communities. More than three decades of relentless anti-poaching efforts and science-based management have transformed the 120,000-acre Reserve into one of southern Africa’s most biodiversity-rich protected areas.

Today, Malilangwe supports more than 536 animal species and 1,043 plant species - counts comparable to parks more than 15x its size. Malilangwe is also home to Key 1 populations of both the southern white rhino and the critically endangered southern black rhino, placing it among the continent’s most important strongholds for these species. Sustained support for Malilangwe's anti-poaching program has become more critical than ever to safeguard these globally significant populations as well as the broader biodiversity of the Reserve.
