My story
The Savé Valley
Conservancy (SVC) is a pioneering conservation organisation based in Zimbabwe's
southeast Lowveld that is dedicated to preserving the region's distinctive
biodiversity. Established in 1991, the SVC encompasses nearly 750,000 acres of pristine
wilderness, including a broad range of ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and
natural resources critical to the local and global environment.
One of the conservancy's key goals is to strike a balance between wildlife
conservation and long-term economic growth, ensuring that the neighbouring
communities benefit from the area's diverse natural resources. The SVC promotes
a healthy interaction between humans and wildlife through creative approaches,
such as employment creation and ecotourism, while also saving endangered
species such as elephants, rhinos, wild dogs, and others.
The Savé Valley
Conservancy is dedicated to community participation and education,
collaborating closely with local stakeholders to adopt conservation techniques
that empower people to play an active role in protecting their environment.
Education, wildlife management, and alternative livelihoods programs are
intended to instil a sense of responsibility in community members, ensuring
that future generations inherit a healthy ecosystem.
