Our Story

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. They hold diverse roles as conservationists, teachers, community support workers, leaders and much more.

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge, organised by Tusk, is a celebration of solidarity, connection and camaraderie for the ranger profession. Culminating on 21st September 2024, the campaign raises vital funds for Africa's biodiversity guardians.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC), forms part of the 380 km2 Lewa-Borana Landscape (LBL). The LBL is located in Northern Kenya with the strategic objective of offering security and protection to threatened wildlife and people within the landscape and in the immediate community neighbourhoods. This is achieved through the enhanced wildlife protection project, which mainly works through the versatile ranger teams within the LBL. LWC's rangers are critical in the protection of wildlife, natural resources, and people within the landscape.

Since its inception, WRC has ensured that the 124 rangers in LWC are kept on employment, are sufficiently remunerated for their sacrifice in protecting wildlife, are regularly trained, and have their general welfare standards improved, thus leading to an improved level of motivation and performance by the rangers. The 2024 WRC support will go a long way in supporting salaries, insurance, and purchase of equipment for the rangers, ensuring continuous improvement.

Give today and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Join us in speaking up #ForWildlifeRangers
