Stand With Madagascar's Conservation Heroes

In the heart of the Indian Ocean lies an incredible island—Madagascar, where 90% of wildlife exists nowhere else on the planet. But this biodiversity treasure is under siege, and the brave rangers protecting it need your help.

IMPACT Madagascar is one of the only teams from this extraordinary island nation competing in the 2025 Wildlife Ranger Challenge, and we're fighting for more than just victory—we're fighting for survival. Our rangers are the last line of defense for endangered lemurs, ancient forests, and communities whose livelihoods depend on healthy ecosystems.

From the forests of Mahajeby to the wetlands of Madiromirafy, our rangers don't just guard wildlife—they're environmental educators, community leaders, and conservation innovators. But they can't do it alone.

Give today and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Your support doesn't just fund equipment or salaries—it fuels hope, builds resilience, and creates lasting change in one of the world's most critical biodiversity hotspots.

Madagascar's wildlife can't wait. Our rangers can't wait. The time to act is now.

Time Trials

Sep 20, 2025, 3:50:22 PM

A couple of weeks ago, ahead of the big race day, our rangers from Team Fosa and Team Sifaka put their fitness to the test with the Wildlife Ranger Challenge Time Trials. The Time Trial is a standard part of ranger training: a 2.4 km run without weight, designed to measure endurance, speed, and overall fitness. By running against the clock, rangers get a clear sense of their progress and readiness for the 21 km challenge ahead. Now, with the 21 km challenge completed, our teams have proven that their training paid off. But their mission isn’t over—protecting Madagascar’s wildlife is a race that continues every day.

Less Than 10 Days to Go!

Sep 11, 2025, 12:12:41 AM

In just ten days, rangers across Africa will line up for the Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2025 — an international event that not only tests endurance but also shines a spotlight on the vital role rangers play in conservation. At IMPACT Madagascar, rangers are more than athletes. They are guardians of forests and wildlife, patrolling habitats to deter illegal logging and hunting. They are stewards of the future, maintaining nurseries and planting trees to restore ecosystems. And they are community leaders, working with families to create sustainable livelihoods. This September, Team Fosa and Team Sifaka will join ranger teams from across Africa, running not just for pride but for the planet. Their work safeguards Madagascar’s lemurs, forests, and people — but they can’t do it alone. Together, we can ensure Madagascar’s biodiversity continues to thrive for generations to come.

What does the Wildlife Ranger Challenge really support?

Aug 31, 2025, 11:55:06 PM

In Madagascar, IMPACT’s rangers are more than guardians of nature. Every day, they patrol forests to protect endangered lemurs, prevent illegal logging, and safeguard habitats that local communities rely on for survival. But their role goes beyond protection—they’re also educators and leaders. Rangers help families grow tree nurseries, develop sustainable livelihoods, and build resilience in the face of environmental challenges. From racing for wildlife to planting hope for the future, Team Fosa and Team Sifaka show us that protecting biodiversity means protecting people too.

Still on the Wild Side!

Aug 8, 2025, 6:35:27 PM

Our team has just completed the #WildlifeRangerChallenge Quiz—a test of knowledge, speed, and ranger skill! While we wait for our results to be verified, our work in the field continues at full speed. Each day, IMPACT Madagascar’s rangers set out at first light, trekking through forests and across communities to safeguard Madagascar’s most threatened wildlife—lemurs, chameleons, rare birds, and so much more. Their mission doesn’t stop for quizzes or competitions. By supporting our campaign, you help ensure they have the tools, training, and resources they need to keep Madagascar’s unique biodiversity safe for generations to come. Every quiz answered, every step taken, and every species saved brings us closer to a thriving future for Madagascar’s wildlife.

Field Smarts in Action!

Jul 29, 2025, 5:32:06 PM

Yesterday, our rangers kicked off the Wildlife Ranger Challenge by taking part in the Wildlife Ranger Quiz—a test of the specialized knowledge that is essential to their role. Beyond protecting forests and endangered species from threats, rangers also serve as educators and advocates, sharing their deep understanding of local ecosystems with communities, researchers, and the next generation of conservationists.

Heroes in the Forest: Our Rangers' Vital Work in Madiromirafy and Mahajeby

Jul 23, 2025, 4:08:55 AM

In the forests of Madiromirafy, our rangers are at the heart of the Sifaka Conservation Project, working tirelessly to protect one of Madagascar's most endangered primates. They patrol dense forest areas to monitor sifaka populations, track wildlife movements, and prevent illegal activities that threaten these precious ecosystems. But their work extends far beyond traditional ranger duties – they serve as educators and community liaisons, installing educational signage to raise local awareness and building vital connections between conservation science and community engagement.
