Conservation Lower Zambezi
In the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi Valley, a vital effort is underway to protect one of Africa’s last great wildernesses. This is where our story begins.
Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ) was founded in 1994 by a small group of passionate conservationists determined to safeguard this extraordinary landscape. Today, CLZ is a key partner to Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), working to protect wildlife, support local communities, and secure the future of the Lower Zambezi National Park and its surrounding ecosystem.
From our base on the park’s edge, we support law enforcement through anti-poaching patrols, a dedicated K9 unit, aerial surveillance, and rapid response teams. These efforts strengthen frontline protection and help conserve endangered species.
But conservation is about more than just wildlife—it’s about people too. We work closely with communities to reduce human-wildlife conflict, promote environmental education, and support sustainable livelihoods. Each year, we reach thousands of students, empower community scouts, and build resilience through training.
Our mission is long-term, rooted in collaboration, commitment, and hope. Our vision is a thriving Lower Zambezi where people and nature coexist in harmony.
Give today and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated—doubling your impact. Stand with us and speak up #ForWildlifeRangers.
