Africa Foundation - Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2024

Our Oceans Without Borders Marine Rangers work tirelessly to protect seascapes around Mnemba, Vamizi and Benguerra Islands; their dual role as both community and conservation ambassadors calls for a unique skill set. To continue, they need our support.

Our Story

Our Oceans Without Borders Community & Conservation Marine Rangers undertake critical work over 3 islands locations - Mnemba off the coast of Zanzibar Island, Vamizi in the Quirimbas Archipelago and Benguerra in the Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique.

The locally recruited teams are driven by their passion for marine wildlife and the beautiful natural environment around their home communities. In their multi-faceted role they are diving underwater, patrolling the landscape, capturing, documenting and analysing conservation data, protecting endangered sea turtle nesting sites, meeting with local government and stakeholders, running community workshops and teaching in classrooms! They work day into night, week into weekend, with the goal of ensuring that the seascapes remain healthy and biodiverse, and a beautiful destination for all to enjoy.

The funds generated through the Wildlife Ranger Challenge have been key to securing their positions and the continued conservation of these ocean spaces. As the ‘Mnemba Green Turtles’, ‘Benguerra Dugongs’ and ‘Vamizi Coconut Crab’ ranger teams take on yet another 21km Wildlife Ranger Challenge, we ask that you please support them so that they can keep doing what they do best!

Give to these unsung heroes today, and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. #ForWildlifeRangers
