Our Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2024 Team ZAVARU is based in southern Mana Pools National Park at the Zambezi Valley Rapid Response Unit Base ZAVARU. These Rangers respond to wildlife protection needs all over the Mid-Zambezi Region (1,300,000ha).

TEAM ZAVARU has completed the 21km challenge!

WRC 2-MIN SITUP CHALLENGE COMPLETED!
Sep 14, 2024, 2:48:58 PMTEAM ZAVARU completed its SITUP CHALLENGE, the last of the 3 mini-challenges for WRC 2024! The WRC judges are finalising the counts and the leaderboard will be published next Tuesday! Well done TEAM ZAVARU and supporters MHARA RIVER BUSHCAMP!
WRC 24 Team ZAVARU teams up with WRC 24 Team DOMA
Sep 7, 2024, 12:42:02 PMIn any case, Rangers working in the Zambezi Valley landscape team up with each other in response to patrol requirements, poaching incursions and for other duties. On this occasion, Team ZAVARU teamed up with the remotely situated Team DOMA, way in the south-east of the Zambezi Valley protected areas system. A great opportunity for the teams to carry out their 21km trial together!
Elephant Check-Point!
Aug 20, 2024, 6:34:34 AMWhilst undertaking training Team ZAVARU encountered a herd of elephant crossing the access road to ZAVARU Base, and had to bide their time, to allow these magnificent animals to cross in peace!

Aug 20, 2024, 6:29:55 AMIt's always a tough haul to train up and down deep sandy river beds, no less than on this route down the Chewore River, undertaken by a member of Team ZAVARU. This Ranger has used his patrol requirements and turned it into the necessary training for the part of the day's programme.

WRC 24 backpacks donated and delivered to 10 WRC teams in the Zambezi Valley
Aug 2, 2024, 10:05:15 AMIt was great that my Team Tashinga Initiative based in Kariba could get mobilised under Cutmore Gidion and deliver backpacks to all the WRC 24 teams around the Zambezi Valley! And no less so to Team ZAVARU who were thrilled to get theirs and to get used to carrying this particular bag, weighted of course for all the training necessary, leading up to 21st September, marathon day!
