Northern Tuli Game Reserve - Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2024
Northern Tuli Game Reserve is taking on the Wildlife Ranger Challenge to raise awareness of the vital role our 14 rangers play in protecting Botswana's Ecosystem, and supporting an estimated 150 livelihoods.
Our Story
Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. They hold diverse roles as conservationists, teachers, community support workers, leaders and much more.
The Wildlife Ranger Challenge, organised by Tusk, is a celebration of solidarity, connection and camaraderie for the ranger profession. Culminating on 21st September 2024, the campaign raises vital funds for Africa's biodiversity guardians.
At Northern Tuli Game Reserve, we have a total of 14 rangers employed to look after 72000ha, operating with assistance from government authorities such as the police, wildlife department and other government agencies. Our Rangers role is to patrol, sweep areas where suspected activities take place and gather information, which is then shared with the relevant government authorities as the reserve borders both South Africa and Zimbabwe. Joint operations are also held on a regular basis when suitable.
The WRC funding has allowed the reserve to keep our rangers and their families employed and supported. It will take time for reserves to get to proper funding levels where rangers and the protection of conservation areas can be supported through tourism.
Give today and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Join us in speaking up #ForWildlifeRangers
